It’s time for another Meet the Team Monday! This month we are delighted to introduce you to Thomas, one of our fab front of house team. Thomas has been with us now for 4 years so if you have visited the bar or restaurant we are sure you will recognise him.
Thomas is a local lad and currently lives in Leyburn but is originally from Aysgarth. Thomas says his biggest achievement to date has been getting into University.
We asked Thomas what he would recommend to visitors from our menu, his top pick is Fish and Chips or Steak but says it is a difficult decision as everything tastes so good! Thomas is a fantastic cook himself and his signature dish is spaghetti Bolognese cooked from scratch, when he has the time.
Thomas loves to travel and has lots of trips planned for this year and next, including Berlin and Lisbon and fingers crossed New York too. His favourite spot In the Dales, besides the Saddle Room of course, is taking a drive over Buttertubs where the views are simply stunning.
If Thomas could banish three things to room 101 they would be, speed cameras, slow internet and all things Brexit.

Meet Casey! Casey has been working with us for four months as part of the Front of House team and she is also one of our fantastic bartenders.
Casey is originally from Leyburn and in her spare time when she is not working loves to dance, her favourite quote is: “A dancer doesn’t need a stage, only a sole!”
If you are popping over to The Saddle Room for a meal, Casey recommends you try the Breast of Duck with a carrot puree and a Port Sauce as it is her favourite thing on our menu. To accompany it, Casey’s favourite drink is a glass of Rose or a Raspberry and Rhubarb liqueur. When she is not eating at The Saddle Room Casey can rustle up a mean Tagliatelle and considers that to be her signature dish.
No visit to the Tupgill Estate would be complete without exploring the Forbidden Corner, so we asked Casey if she had any tips for visitors to the attraction and she said,
“Try not to get lost!!” Wise words indeed! Casey would also recommend that visitors went to Lightwater Valley if they were looking for fun things to do in the area.
Finally, to get to know Casey a bit better we asked her to let us know her biggest pet peeves that she would love to see banished to Room 101. Casey would banish Bus Lanes.

Meet Jess! Jess is a waitress and works as part of our hardworking front of house team in the Restaurant and bar.
Jess joined The Saddle Room team in 2014 and was with us for a year before taking a break and re-joining in June of last year. Jess loves working at The Saddle Room as it has meant she has gained her own independence and has been able to move out on her own.
If you are visiting The Saddle Room for a meal the dish that Jess recommends you try is the Cheddar and Bacon Burger served with truffle and parmesan fries. In her own words,
“You will never go home hungry with this dish and the truffle and parmesan fries are to die for!!”
Given the choice of a drink to accompany her favourite dish on the menu, Jess would always choose a classic from our menu, a Sloegasmix! This is a combination of sloe gin and prosecco and is perfect for sipping outside on our terrace on sunny days.
Jess’ favourite quote is ‘Work hard to play hard’ and she intends to do just that, with holidays planned this year to Lanzarote, Marbella, Majorca and a trip to Scotland’s capital, Edinburgh.
No visit to the Tupgill Estate would be complete without exploring the Forbidden Corner, we asked Jess if she had any tips for visitors to the attraction and she said,
“Don’t forget to look in the picnic area and fishing pond! You don’t know what is hiding in there!!”
Other than the Forbidden Corner and The Saddle Room, Jess would recommend that visitors to the area plan a trip to Aysgarth Falls. Aysgarth Falls are stunning waterfalls on the River Ure just a short drive from the Tupgill Estate.
Lastly, we asked Jess top to let us know her biggest pet peeves that she would love to see banished to Room 101. Jess would love to see Cancer banished for good, if you would too why not make a donation to one of the many fabulous charities working hard to find cures to Cancer, as well as baked beans!

We wanted to say a huge thank you to all the beautiful future brides and grooms and exhibitors who made their way to our Wedding Fair on Saturday, despite the cold weather and snow!
The event was a huge success with one comment from one Bride saying “it was the best fair they had ever been to!”. We had lots of wonderful vendors on hand offering advice and displaying all the extra touches that help make your wedding day truly special.
We have had lovely feedback from everyone who attended, compliments being paid to our goody bag full of wedding treats!
The fair really showcased what a spectacular wedding venue we have here at the Saddle Room, it’s no surprise that we are nearly fully booked for weddings this year already!

What a night we had at the White Rose Awards! The Saddle Room team are nursing hangovers this morning after a night of very well-deserved celebration at the Welcome to Yorkshire White Rose Awards.
We were nominated in the Best Inns & Restaurants with Rooms Award after being shortlisted from 200 entrants. Whilst we didn’t take home the award last night, we feel tremendously proud to have made the final and to see our name listed alongside some truly fantastic Yorkshire Businesses.
This tops off what has been a fantastic 2017 for all the staff at The Saddle Room and we are already excited to continue to grow and progress in 2018, watch this space…

There is a phrase by Chinese Philosopher Lao-Tzu that perfectly sums up Laura and Adam,
“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage”
Laura and Adam are a very special couple who recently tied the knot here at The Saddle Rooms. In 2013 Adam was diagnosed with an extremely rare cancer called pseudomyxoma peritonei and given only weeks to live. After hearing about a pioneering surgery Adam and Laura took the decision for Adam to undergo the same procedure.
Adam underwent a gruelling 17 hour surgery performed by a skilled team of 30 people that involved replacing Adam’s pancreas, spleen and stomach. Adam is one of only 4 people in the world to survive this intense surgery and is a true testament to his strong and determined character and their love as a couple.
This May Adam and Laura were married in our beautiful new Bell Barn in a ceremony that left no dry eyes. Their friends and family did a fantastic job of decorating the venue and the weather was perfect on the day.
We are very humbled to have been chosen as the venue for this extremely special day and wish the happy couple all the best for their future together.
